Our Classes

Our classes are structured with respect to the developmental stage of each age group. We maintain low class ratios with each classroom being assigned a teacher and an assistant teacher. We evaluate the layout of each classroom based on our NAC and Virginia Dept. of Education standards.

  • Group I

    12 - 17 Months

    Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday

Our Group I class allows for our youngest children to learn how to separate from their caregivers with confidence and enjoy their play in a supportive loving environment. Their classroom is set with large bright windows overlooking their own courtyard playground. Their schedule and routine while at FPP is designed for success. A great way to start in our program!

  • Group II

    18 - 24 Months

    Tuesday/Thursday

This class is set for our young curious learners in larger classroom spaces with sky lights that bring in a lot natural light to their space. At this age, children are beginning to transition from parallel play to more interactive play with their peers. Our teachers offer guidance to support these children as they are further developing their language skills. Routines with stories, songs and movement keep these young learners engaged and excited to be at school.

  • Group III

    2 Years Old

    M/W/F or 5-Day Option

Group III is designed for the active 2-year-old who is often full of language, curiosity and movement. They meet 3 days a week allowing them more time at school to engage with their teachers and peers in their learning environment. Children in these groups enjoy their routines and schedules with a balance of outdoor time and classroom time for exploration in their learning. Age-appropriate choices are set up with purpose for each child in his/her classroom. The 5-day class is designed for the older 2 year-old child (pushing towards 3 years of age) and who is ready to attend school 5 mornings each week.

  • Group IV

    3 Years Old

Monday - Friday, 12 PM or 2 PM

This class is designed for the child who is becoming more independent as he/she moves to this stage of development. Children are encouraged to explore open-ended choices in the Group IV classroom that has been set with intention supporting growth and development. Children are able to discuss their emotions and solve problems and learn to self-regulate. The children learn their daily routines quickly and enjoy interacting with others at school.

  • Pre-Kindergarten (PreK)

    4 or 5 Years Old

    Monday - Friday, 12PM or 2 PM

Our Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) class is where interactive and imaginative play blossom. Each class is designed with the 4 and 5-year-old in mind with centers for exploration and learning. These centers range from sciences to dramatic play as well as music, art, puzzles, and writing. Children enjoy digging deeper into their learning in this class and are able to build on their knowledge base and enhance their skills. The continuum of social-emotional development continues as these 4 and 5 year-olds grow in this class.

  • Junior Kindergarten

5 Years Old (Or Turning 5 At The Beginning of the School Year)

    Monday - Friday, 2 PM

Our Junior Kindergarten (JK) class was developed several years ago to support our young learners who are continuing to develop and prepare for Kindergarten. Children at this age are curious about their world and are beginning to make more sense of it as they mature. Imaginative play continues while real and thought-provoking conversations develop as well. This class has the perfect blend of play-based learning and sprinkles of pre-kindergarten activities to support growth for our 5-year-old children. The children in this class grow in confidence over the school year as they prepare for Kindergarten.
